Obama congratulates Borissov, ‘looks forward to meeting soon’

United States president Barack Obama has congratulated Boiko Borissov on taking office as Bulgaria’s Prime Minister and says that he is resolved to "build on and step up" relations between Washington and Sofia.

In a letter handed to Borissov on July 29 2009 by outgoing US ambassador in Sofia Nancy McEldowney, Obama said that he was looking forward to meeting Borissov soon.

"As you assemble your Cabinet and shape your government's strategic agenda, I want to underscore the commitment of the United States to the enduring partnership between our two countries," Obama’s letter said.

"As Nato allies and partners in the Euro-Atlantic Community we share firm intentions of common defence and regional security; as democratic societies, both countries are committed to human rights protection and the rule of law.  Our market economies are interrelated and we have the common interest to boost trade and investment to open new jobs and improve the standard of living," Obama said.

Bulgarian National Television (BNT) said on July 28 that Borissov had been telephoned by his Turkish counterpart Recep Erdogan with congratulations.

In a 30-minute conversation, the two discussed regional co-operation and policies on security, as well as exchanging opinions on the Nabucco gas pipeline project.

BNT said that Erdogan congratulated Borissov on including a minister of Turkish descent in his Cabinet, Culture Minister Vezhdi Rashidov.

Bulgarian news agency BTA said that German chancellor Angela Merkel had assured Borissov of Berlin’s support and that she looked forward to working with him to boost the successful partnership between Germany and Bulgaria in the European Union and Nato.

In a congratulatory message sent to Borissov, Russian prime minister Vladimir Putin said that he hoped for active co-operation that would fulfil the rich potential of the traditionally good Bulgarian-Russian relations.

That's what the a-hole said about Russia.
Too stupid to hold his feelings eventhough the US needs Russia on so many fronts, since they are at war with most of Islam...
