Dresscode and song request for Madonna concert in Russia

Singer Madonna performs during her Sticky and Sweet tour at Lluis Companys stadium in Barcelona on July 21 2009.

An organisation called St. Petersburg and Leningrad Region Communists had demanded that Madonna dress "decently" and possibly sing a few revolutionary songs during her August 2 concert in the city, Russian news aggregator lenta.ru said, as quoted by Bulgarian daily Dnevnik.

"In the city where the great socialist October revolution of 1917 was the beginning of a new era for the entire world, you should not be dressed lightly or with passionate dances attract lesbians," a letter from the organisation was quoted as saying.

"We ask you, Madonna, please include in your repertoire for the concert at the Palace Square some revolutionary song, in honour of those who stormed the Winter Palace," the letter said.

The communist organisation said Смело товарищи в ногу (With Courage Comrades We March Forward), The Internationale or Вы жертвою пали в борьбе роковой (You Fell a Victim in Ill-fated Struggle) would be most appropriate, although it said the Marseillaise would do as well.

No reaction from Madonna or her staff had been received yet, Dnevnik said.

Recently, Mikhail Piotrovskiy, director of the Hermitage museum in the city, had also expressed his concern about the concert, fearing that the gig would have an adverse effect on the paintings in the museum, Dnevnik said. Additionally, a scene in the show where Madonna was crucified was considered blasphemous.

"get a new dawn you russians ." Well Cosmos
and others.... unless you were born yesterday you should be able to recognize PR tricks from real news. This organization is well known for writing wired open letters to anyone who is in the news. They consist of only couple of hundreds people and in a constant search for attention.
Well... they got yours !!!
Interestingly but their website does not mention anything about it.

Madonna sing 'revolutionary' songs?! HAHA! The last 'modern' singer to sing about the 'revolution' was Barc Bolan & T-Rex & trust me that wasn't about 'your' revolution.
If she or the music label were so inclined then she would surely sing about the many countrymen of hers that died in WW2, thankfully they like to keep music and jingoism seperate! I cannot believe that people really think that her singing will effect paintings! This is 2009 isn't it???

Don't discount the "nostalgia" and rhe "respect" factor from older Russians, who experienced the Great Patriotic War (what we in the west know as WW II ). This needs to be acknowledged and recognised.
