Fatality happened at Black Sea resort, while as Bulgaria faced scorching temperatures that in places were higher than 40 degrees, emergency services were on standby and many sought shelter indoors. High temperatures were reported elsewhere in South Eastern Europe, while parts of southern Europe have been hit by wildfires.
From Belgrade to Bucharest, residents seek shelter from the heat and in Greece, emergency services are on alert for further wildfires.
This latest storm warning has come in time of another storm – a hurricane brewing over the ministry itself
Heavy rain in conjunction with snow melting can cause rivers in south-eastern Bulgaria to jump bank.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations, which warned of a storm and a deluge last week, but none came, had its hands full in the night from December 23 to 24 after a snow storm hit Bulgaria. According to a press release from the ministry rescue teams were involved throughout the night in missions of all degrees of seriousness, from tolling vehicles and their passengers who were stranded in the snow, to pumping water from flooded basements and first floor houses, propping up and fixing torn electric lines and collapsed electric poles, removing fallen trees, to securing dangerous tin and metal sheets that were overhanging from rooftops and threatening pedestrians below.
Works will be reviewed by a group of judges, and winners will receive certificates and prizes.

It is really a pity that we loose this important Ministry!
Let's hope the people will find a good job elsewhere! May be the Institute for Metereology has some vancancies.
