The Hague tribunal jails Lukic cousins for Visegrad crimes

Milan and Sredoje Lukic listen as The Hague tribunal pronounces judgment on July 20 2009.

The Hague tribunal on war crimes in the former Yugoslavia, in a ruling on July 20 2009, gave Milan Lukic a life sentence and his cousin Sredoje Lukic 30 years’ jail for war crimes against Muslims in Visegrad between 1992 and 1994.

The Trial Chamber, with presiding judge Patrick Robinson, found Milan Lukic (42) guilty on all counts of the indictment - burning at least 119 Muslim civilians, mostly women, children and the elderly, in two houses in Visegrad in June 1992, and of the slayings of at least 12 men on the bank of the River Drina and one woman in Visegrad, and the torture of non-Serb detainees at the Uzamnica camp, Serbian news agency Beta said.

Milan Lukic led a paramilitary group known as the "White Eagles" or the "Avengers".

Sredoje Lukic (48) was convicted of aiding and abetting the burning of at least 59 civilians in Pionirska Street in Visegrad, on June 14 1992, and torture at Uzamnica.

The Trial Chamber established that it had not been proven that Sredoje Lukic had taken part in nor been present at the burning of 60 Muslims in the Bikavac quarter of Visegrad, on June 27 1992.

Both had pleaded not guilty.

"The perpetration by Milan Lukic and Sredoje Lukic of crimes in this case is characterised by a callous and vicious disregard for human life," Judge Robinson said, Bulgarian news agency Focus said, quoting Reuters.

Visegrad was one area where the forces of three groups fiercely fought each other. Perhaps the press would like to expose the fact that the BiH forces were armed and backed by mujadeen fighters (of which a brigade remains in Bosnia). Like the American Civil War, this was an armed anarchy that was staged for the execution of "justice" and "independence".

Maybe Jean should learn History better, than just hating Serbs and chetnics. For example,Why Chetnics had muslim members in their forces during second world war and fighting agains nazis and saving thousand of american and British Air man and Draza, chetnic leader on most wanted list by Germans who offered 100000German marks for his capture..The story of chetnics working togheter with Germans was invented after war to wash Guilt of Ustashe and their Genocide..Also Mr.Jean-Mujaga,Balija so you knew about chetnics and germans, but nothing about Black Legion and Handzhar division, and all those concentration camps by Muslims and Croats..Find me one concetration camp by Serbs..even [...]

Read the full comment if Serbs killed Muslims in eastern Bosnia ,that was for Revenge and at least they didnt kill women and children, only Men,not like Muslims, who killed everybody,Old ,young, women children,..Also you would be obssesed by History if over million of your people killed in second world war and then children of killers start another war to try to finish what they fathers and grandfathers didnt in second world war..Shame Jean-Balijo,Shame and maybe you should throw al-qida member from Bosnia first or maybe they are also as Democratic and just as you are......Shame,sorry I forgot you dont have one!!!

Serbs are obsessed with the past and their history and have no perspective on the future.
Chetniks and Serbs also collaborated at times with the Nazis during WWII.
Many Serb civilians killed in 1992-1995 were loyal Bosnian Serbs killed by Chetniks.
True that Serbs suffered in Krajina but no where near as much as Bosniak in Eastern Bosnia and war criminals (Gotovina and others) are at the Hague for their crimes against Serbs civilians.
So do not say there is no justice for Serbs.

Well, well, that will be all fine if justice is served, but what about Serbs and Croats and them as the victims. No justice for them. Maybe you can explain to me how Muslims started war in isegrad, by killing Serbs and throwing Ivo Andric statue in the river and again you are contradicting yourself by saying that cetnik Vojvoda told your cousin how He killed your grandfather and not killing him in first place, doesn't make sence. Also when and where Serbian Priests told people to kill more for the land (lie, lie and another lie) Maybe after all, we should explain [...]

Read the full comment how Muslims killed thousands in second world war fighting in Handzar Division and Black Legion of Ustashe and in 1992,brought all Mudzahedin from all around world to kill christians in Bosnia. If anyone killed for land that is Muslims.

and by the way Mirko sa Solila selo Kocare, was a Vojvoda cetnik and he killed my grandfather, told my cousin Esed Setkic that he will tell my family how their father died but he is too scared to confront them, to admit to his doings, but we are working to bring him to court too... so justice can be served, so he can answer to his actions before he leaves this world.

Actually "Ante" my grandfather was a victim of this burning, my grandmother escaped and listened to his screams as he burned to death. So don't be like the nazi's and try to deny the war and atrocities committed, at least admit and show remorse. Justice is served, not 100% but at least they are caught and will answer.

Another Lie,inocent muslims burned and raped, well, nothing new, anything they say(Muslims) its true, they didnt do anything, except always fighting on nazi side and still inocent..Also Josh J if your name is that, where did you hear about rape and burning of two day old baby, maybe from muslim propaganda or you were there watching all that..One day true story of war in Bosnia will be told,

Anonymous Josh J Fri, Jul 24 2009 11:51 CET

This is what Serbs throughout the war. In this case they raped and burned alive a two day old baby as Servian priests urged them to do more to get more land.
