Manchester City to sign Emmanuel Adebayor from Arsenal

Emmanuel Adebayor

Make no mistake, the Citizens will be gunning for silverware in the forthcoming campaign. Less than 24 hours after securing Carlos Tevez for 25.5 million pounds sterling, the Sheiks are close to landing  Arsenal's striker Emmanuel Adebayor. That would mean that the Citizens how have no less than nine forwards in their ranks.

Reportedly, City have offered to wire the Londoners 20 million pounds for the striker, with Arsenal's asking price being 25 million. The latest development, however, indicate that both teams are "willing to compromise" in order to facilitate the deal.

This is the latest saga around the Eastlands, with City also flirting with Chelsea captain John Terry. There were reports that Adebayor was on his way out of the Emirates and that he was en route to Italy, but AC Milan's desire to land the player have diminished.  And with no other Italian side apparently interested or able to afford him, it is now apparent that he will remain in England. The Guardian has said that the deal will pay 150 000 pounds sterling a week, while The Times of London indicated that the sum could be higher, up to 170 000 pounds a week.

Regarding his transfer and new home, Carlos Tevez said his aim was to win more titles with City. "The manager and the owners are very ambitious. This is the chance to be involved from the start, an opportunity to help build and create a special experience. I am here for success and to win trophies, " he said as quoted by The Guardian.

"This is terrific news. Carlos is an international player of the highest class who possesses all the attributes that will help drive this club forward," Mark Hughes, the City manager, said, quoted by The Times. "He is not only outstanding technically but he is a reliable goal scorer and someone who will contribute fully to the team ethic. He gives us another exciting, attacking dimension. I cannot wait to welcome him to City."

Meanwhile, the Manchester City website has announced that City have offloaded Jo on loan to Everton for the entire season. Jo, who came to the Eastlands from CSKA Moscow, has struggled to carve out a name for himself at City, managing only nine league games for the club in his first season before being shipped to Everton. This will be the second spell at Goodison Park for the 22-year-old Brazilian international who played a dozen games for the Toffees last season and scored five times.

Who needs some players that are not committed? Let him go. That is good news for Arsenal fans. We do need real players that want to give their life to the club. Adebayor is about money. he has no love for the game.

if Ade wants to go, let him do so. We need players who are willing to do there job for the good of the club. Replace him by a pleyer of greater skill than him.
