Carloz Tevez rejects Chelsea, set to sign for Manchester City

Carlos Tevez

Argentine striker Carloz Tevez has reportedly decided not to bother any further with Chelsea's offer, indicating that is all set to join Manchester City on a 150 000 pounds sterling a week deal, The Daily Mail has said.

"Carlos Tevez will fly back from holiday today to complete the 25 million pounds sterling move to Manchester City," the newspaper said. Tevez is set to complete a medical check on July 13 and is likely to fly to South Africa and join his new teammates for the club's summer tour.

The Argentine, who was left discontent with his former employers at Old Trafford, claiming he "did not receive enough respect" and "was unhappy at being relegated as a second choice striker", was also strongly linked with a possible switch to London. Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich had shown a determined interest in bringing the player to Stamford Bridge, but it is now apparent that a move south is unlikely for Tevez, rather he would switch from United to their bitter local rivals, City.

Manchester City are undergoing a serious reinforcement campaign, and Chelsea are going to be the latest team that will feel the disappointment from it. Earlier, Liverpool were snubbed when City signed Gareth Barry from Aston Villa for 12 million pounds sterling, while also securing striker Roque Santa Cruz, who cost 18 million from Blackburn.

This latest development quoted by Daily Mail remained as yet unconfirmed by the club's official website.

"The Mirror and the Guardian says that Chelsea are holding talks with John Terry today, while the Independent are of the opinion that he has already been told by Mr Abramovich that he's going nowhere. The same paper also asserts that we will "table" a bid for Joleon Lescott regardless of the Terry outcome," the club's website has told the fans.

"The Mail are convinced that Carlos Tevez will be a City player on Tuesday [July 14], just in time for the trip to South Africa".

Let's hope John Terry stays at Chelsea. City are building for the future we don't want a 29 year old with a dodgy back. We want the best young players not old hasbeens!

Personally, I say only sell Terry for £50m plus Robinho. If city won't offer that, then don't let him leave, whatever the outcome, Terry should not be allowed to captain Chelsea next season. Give than honour to Frankie Lampard.
