Earthquake hits western Turkey

An earthquake with a magnitude of 4 on the Richter scale was registered in the western Turkish town of Denizli in the early morning of July 13 2009, Bulgarian news agency BTA said.

The epicentre was near the town of Honaz, the seizmological institute Kandili in Istanbul said.

The earthquake happened at 2.32am and was felt in neighbouring towns in the region.

There were no reports of victims or damages caused in the quake, BTA said.
