Marijuana farm busted near Sliven

Police officers in Sliven have arrested a man in relation to a hemp farming scheme, seizing more than 250kg of marijuana.

The authorities from Tvurditsa conducted the operation on the afternoon of June 8, searching a private house on Lenin Str in the town of Shivachevo in Tvurditsa municipality. The officers stumbled across a 300 sq m marijuana plantation.

The plants were subsequently harvested and they were evaluated at 250kg in weight. Additionally, two kg of cannabis were found inside the property of a 58-year-old male, who owns the house and who police suspect of being in charge of the entire operation.

The cannabis has been seized, the man has been arrested and a case has been opened by the local prosecutor's office.
