Jordan is to recognise Kosovo, becoming the 61st country to do so, Kosovo media reports quoted the foreign ministry in Pristina as having said on July 7 2009.

Kosovo unilaterally declared independence from Serbia in February 2008, a step backed by several major Western powers but which Belgrade has succeeded in getting United Nations General Assembly backing to refer to the World Court for an opinion of the legality of the move.

"The authorities in Jordan have taken the decision to recognise Kosovo and Kosovo's foreign minister Skender Hyseni expects the Jordanian foreign minister to confirm the recognition," a government spokesperson in Pristina told Koha Vizion television station.

"We are still waiting for official confirmation of the recognition, but we have clear signals that this confirmation will arrive very soon," Kosovo deputy foreign minister Vlora Çitaku was quoted as saying by Kosovo daily Express.

Inappropriate comment?

So, is Belgrade going to expel the Jordanian consul as punishment?

... oh excuse me, he is not Makedonian... in fact only the Makedonian ambassador has earned the Persona non grata from the Serbs.. I wonder why?

Is this the wave of recognitions that Pristina was telling us was going to happen?

It looks more like a little ripple.
