Sirakov: Return to Levski Sofia unlikely

Nasko Sirakov

Nasko Sirakov, the former director of Levski Sofia, has rebuffed speculation that he might be returning to Genera in the summer for the beginning of next season.

Media reports prompted widespread speculation that he would return, following "reports" of discussions between himself and the club's president, Todor Bakov.

"I haven't spoken to Batkov for over 20 days now, " he said, as quoted by Dnevnik, which is in stark conflict with what some other media have reported – of constant daily communication between the two.

Additionally, Sirakov has been critical of the selection process currently underway at the team.

"I have had no dealings whatsoever with the team's selection and transfer deals – and I don't approve of them at all," he said. "If there was any chance of me returning to Levski, I would have insisted on being part of the process, and the selection would have been considerably different."

Several months ago speculation surfaced that Levski's president, Batkov, had attempted to bury the hatchet with Sirakov and have him return to Gerena. Allegedly, Sirakov had considered the offer, and subsequently made some demands which were supposed to be evaluated by Batkov.

Sirakov has, however, refused to either deny or confirm such an arrangement, officially.
