Real Madrid unveil Cristiano Ronaldo

From the Theatre of Dreams, Ronaldo went to his own, Realm of Dreams. The two years of flirtations finally ended with Real Madrid officially unwrapping their newest player at the Bernabeu before near capacity crowd on June 6.

And the scenes on television were next to insane. Cristiano Ronaldo's inauguration at the Queen of Europe  after completing the 80 million pounds sterling  world record transfer was a true spectacle - and one that ensured that the Madrid police would have a busy evening, with scores of supporters trying to get on the pitch and touch their messiah.

Ronaldo 24, parted farewell with his old team, saying on BBC world news "that he leaves a lot of fond memories and a lot of friends back in Manchester, but he is certain that everyone understood what was in his heart". On Monday he passed the medical exam and then said "i can't wait to prove that I am worth the money"

He also claimed that the transfer "made my childhood dream a reality". But he also said on June 5 that "with his arrival and that of other talented players in Spain, the La Liga has now become superior to the English Premiership".

"I never imagined that fans would have such a feeling for me," he added.

Real Madrid are still on the full offensive, trying to attract more expensive names to Bernabeu, with Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery and Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso on their hit-list.
