Proving valid predictions that the innovation of a majoritarian element in Bulgaria's July 5 2009 elections would instead see voting for political parties rather than individuals, Boiko Borissov's party the Citizens for the European Development of Bulgaria took the vast majority of constituencies.

Sofia was among those shown as won by GERB candidates, according to a graphic illustration by Bulgarian National Television.

Notable names winning seats for GERB included its national chairman, Tsvetan Tsvetanov, in Veliko Turnovo, and in Bourgas, National History Museum director Bozhidar Dimitrov, formerly a Bulgarian Socialist Party loyalist.

An exception was in Kurdjali, won by Movement for Rights and Freedoms leader Ahmed Dogan.
