The Interior Ministry has been given two brand-new BMW 330 motor vehicles, 240hp each, for chasing offenders on highways, the ministry said on June 20 2009.

The vehicles were donated by BMW Bulgaria, official distributor of the marque in the country.

The ministry is one of the company’s biggest corporate clients and the two vehicles were donated as sign of appreciation of their partnership, the ministry said.

In the past six months, the ministry has bought 40 new BMW motorbikes.

The new vehicles will be used to chase offenders with powerful vehicles who until now otherwise had a good chance of making a getaway from the highway police's usually slower vehicles.

Interior Minister Mihail Mikov personally tested the two BMWs in Sofia, according to the ministry statement.
