On June 20, at 5pm at the National Sports Academy (NSA) pitch, Team Sofia will be toe to toe with the Romanian Bucharest Predators, an official press statement from Team Sofia has said.

The last time Team Sofia played an official match was against another Romanian side, the Bucharest Warriors, with the Bulgarians earning their first away victory, and their first victory to their name since their establishment. The forthcoming clash is the last in the season for Team Sofia, which consisted of five fixtures in total, this one included.

Additionally, some four Bulgarian players from Team Sofia were dispatched to Turkey where they played for the Istanbul Cavaliers, helping the Turkish side reach the final of the Turkish league for American football.

Team Sofia are expecting that the season's curtain will be pulled in style. The final match will be played 'at home' before 400 to 500 spectators.

American football weekend in Sofia

On Sunday November 23, for the first time in Sofia, a full-contact game of American football will take place between the local Team Sofia and their Romanian guests, the Bucharest Warriors. Not quite the NFL, but something in a country where the popularity of the sports appears to be limited to expats mostly. The match is scheduled to kick off at the National Sports Academy pitch in Studentski Grad at 11am. To get there, one can take busses 94 or 280, both of which pass by Orlov Most (Eagles Bridge).

Touchdown

For the first time in Bulgaria, a game of American football was played on October 19 in Razlog in Rila Mountain. It was a friendly affair, with Team Sofia facing the Turkish Istanbul Cavaliers. What ensued was a tough battle on the field with the more experienced Turks asserting gradual domination, beating the Bulgarian side 28-0.
