Italian foreign minister Franco Frattini arrives in Sofia

Italy’s Foreign minister Franco Frattini is arriving in Sofia on June 8, paying a working visit to Bulgaria at the invitation of Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ivailo Kalfin, the Bulgarian National Radio, (BNR) has reported.

Kalfin and Frattini are expected to sign the Declaration on Friendship and Cooperation between Bulgaria and Italy and a Memorandum on Understanding, aimed at increasing and developing co-operation between the two countries' foreign ministries.

As part of the June 8 ceremony, Bulgarian President Georgi Parvanov will decorate Frattini with the Stara Planina Order, First Class, for "exceptional merits in the process of Bulgaria’s accession to EU, notably in "justice and home affairs", the BNR has reported.
