Bulgaria’s European Parliament elections: Borissov’s party leads – official

Boiko Borissov’s party the Citizens for the European Development of Bulgaria, known as GERB, got 26.99 per cent of the vote in Bulgaria’s June 7 2009 European Parliament elections, the Central Election Commission said.
 
This was with 22.82 per cent of the votes processed, Bulgarian news agency Focus quoted the commission as saying.
 
The Bulgarian Socialist Party’s Coalition for Bulgaria, which currently is the majority partner in the national governing coalition, got 18.59 per cent.
 
Ultra-nationalist party Ataka got 11.69 per cent, the Movement for Rights and Freedoms 10.30 per cent, Simeon Saxe-Coburg’s National Movement for Stability and Progress 8.83 per cent, the centre-right Blue Coalition 8.31 per cent, LIDER 5.89 per cent and Yane Yanev’s Order Law and Justice party 4.86 per cent.
