A Bulgarian contestant of the reality show Survivor died of a heart failure on the afternoon of May 30.

Bulgarian contestant Noncho Vodenicharov, aged 53 and mayor of Radnevo, suffered a cardiac arrest after participating in strenuous activities at Gota Beach Resort in Camaroan town, where the show was being shot, Philippine police said.

No details about the challenge Vodenicharov participated in were released.

Vodenicharov died on the spot and his remains had been airlifted to Manilla, the police statement said.

Two doctors at the set confirmed the cause of his death, the police statement said.

Co-producer for the Bulgarian version of Survivor, actor Lyubomir Neykov, told Darik radio a doctor examined all participants before each episode and had found nothing wrong with Vodenicharov.

On May 31, the municipal council of Radnevo announced a five-day mourning period starting on June 1.

Why is he identified as "Survivor contestant" rather than mayor of Radnevo? This shows how important a political position is over a TV show.

Well...that wasn't expected, was it? I think the other participants of the show will have a difficult psychological period now.
