Turkey has confirmed its third and fourth cases of the deadly H1N1 virus in two Turkish citizens who arrived from the United States, Turkish daily Hurriyet said.

The confirmation from the Turkish Health Ministry came late on May 29.

According to the ministry, the two patients had been hospitalized with fever and muscle pain after returning to Turkey a day earlier. Laboratory tests showed they were infected with H1N1, otherwise known as swine flu.

The two have been placed in quarantine and were in good health, the ministry statement said.

According to the ministry, one patient had arrived on a plane from Houston, the other from New York.

Lebanon and Cyprus confirmed their first cases of H1N1 on May 30, Hurriyet said.
