Yane Yanev, MP for the Order, Law  and Justice party was quoted by Bulgarian daily Dnevnik as saying that he has known for a long time that "outrageous stuff happens at the Supreme Administrative Court (SAC)."

In reply to questions from Dnevnik whether Yanev would file a complaint with the State Agency for National Security (SANS) following remarks by SAC president Konstantin Penchev that he had been pressured while presiding over the court case of the opposition coalition against the Central Election Committee (CEC).

On May 28 2009, the CEC refused to register the right-wing opposition coalition for upcoming national elections and was taken to court by the coalition.

On May 30, when reading the court's ruling in the case, Penchev said he had been pressured both in the media and in personal phonecalls from unnamed CEC members.

"Why should we request SANS to investigate when the outcome of the court case was positive for the opposition coalition?" Yanev was quoted as saying.

"I don't think this concerns us," Yanev said.

"Any citizen can file a request with SANS for an investigation. This is a matter of dignity and of civil attitude," Yanev said.

In the words of Yanev, his party has known for a long time that "outrageous stuff happens at the SAC."

"Let Penchev first say what other politicians have called him in previous cases, especially after the last local elections, and let him say how he himself was appointed," Yanev said.

Judges should have personal associates who are highly experienced lawyers with very high moral values so all the phone calls/public contacts etc go through them. !!
