New campus for economics and administration college in Plovdiv

Construction has started on a spacious new modern campus with capacity for 2000 students initiated by the College of economics and administration in Plovdiv. The project will cost three million leva. The new facility will be positioned on a 8537.79 sq. m parcel on Kuklensko blvd, in the Metalsnab borough of Plovdiv, Stroitelstvo Gradut has reported.

The overall design of the complex is a creation of AHK Studio with chief architects Alexander Kostov and Nezabravka Kostova.

Hailed as a practical, modern and multipurpose new centre, the complex consists of five interconnected blocks. The first building, or Block A has been designated as the administration centre, equipped with office facilities. Blocks B and C – will accommodate the student halls, section D will host the atrium, and finally, section E will house the campus retail zone.

The administrative centre, consisting of  983 sq. m gross built in area, is composed of a four-storey building in the southeastern zone of the campus. The current building will be extensively renovated, and expanded where necessary, to meet its new function.

Meanwhile section B will be a newly constructed building equipped with an underground level of 3114 sq. m. The facility will host five conference and seminar halls, one positioned on each floor, as well as five studios on the top level. Section C  has an area of  1715 sq. m with five seminar halls, with a total capacity for 150 students.
Section D will be a two-storey building with two atrium halls, and finally block E will be for service and retail functions.

The construction will be completed in two phases, with overall construction completed by the end of 2011. The first phase will entail the reconstruction of the existing building and its full transformation by the end of 2009.
