The three "heavy metal trains" organised by the Kavarna town hall, taking the large Bulgarian metal-head contingent to Belgrade for the AC/DC concert, will depart on May 25, one day before the show of the legendary Aussie rock band kicks off in the Serbian capital.

Trains will depart from Terminal 1 of the Sofia Central Station. The first train leaves at 10.50pm, followed by the other two at 0.45am and 3.20am on May 26. The first train is expected to arrive at Belgrade at 6.45am on May 26, the day of the concert.

The organisers have reminded all travelling rock fans to make sure they arrive at the terminal at least one hour prior to departure and to have valid identification papers prepared – international passports only.

Bulgarian ID cards, while valid in the European Union, are not acceptable identification in Serbia. Furthermore, all passports must expire no earlier than January 2010.

More information about the "heavy metal trains" is available in Bulgarian on the website of Kavarna municipality.

Sofia Rocks

With Black Sabbath and its famous front man Ozzy Osborne hitting town next week, I wanted to take a look at the worldwide phenomenon of heavy metal and what heavy metal culture is in Bulgaria. Knowing little about the heavy metal phenomenon - I have always been amazed that the reality television show The Osbornes had such a large following - I needed to know more.
