Of Bulgarian visas and property

Bulgaria has set up a system for faster granting of visas for non-EU nationals who own property in Bulgaria. In a front-page story in The Sofia Echo appearing on May 15 2009, Petar Kostadinov outlines how the system is working.

The newspaper kicks off its in-depth coverage of the forthcoming European Parliament elections with updates on the dramas within Bulgaria and an explanatory feature on how the elections work at EU level.

In its regular coverage of South Eastern Europe, The Sofia Echo assesses the state of play in the continuing tug o' war between Kosovo and Serbia over the status of the breakaway state.

Elsewhere, Alex Bivol traces progress on plans for Sofia's metro transport system, while we invite you anew to go hiking with Nick Iliev, and Gabriel Hershman offers his somewhat acerbic take on all things Eurovision.

As ever, the newspaper has its regular features - entertainment listings, restaurant review, social photographs and sports coverage.
