The money raised by charity TV show VIP Brother during its two-and-a-half months on air totalled 1635 315 leva.

The show ended on May 11 2009 with popular TV host Deyan Slavchev-Deo emerging as the winner. His 'prize' was a bronze figure wrought by artist Vejdi Rashidov; all the money raised by the 17 VIP figures who spent time in the house went to eight charitable causes.

This was the second series of the third edition of the VIP Brother format in Bulgaria but the first one devoted exclusively to charity. Since March 16 2009 17 of Bulgaria's popular figures had been sequestered in a luxury house just outside Sofia.

Every week they were engaged in a new charitable campaign with all the money raised via text messages or personal donations going towards the campaigns in question.

Among the 'celebrities' in the house were a number of popular Bulgarian figures – two Miss Bulgarias and an Olympic champion as well as singers and artists. But most interest centred around Todor Slavkov, grandson of Todor Zhivkov, Bulgaria's former communist ruler.

Small scale politician Emil Koshkloukov was also one of the most controversial participants, especially because he had served time as political prisoner when Bulgaria was a socialist republic.

All participants were paid to appear in the show but none divulged the exact fee. The show was screened on Bulgaria's second private national broadcaster Nova Televsia.
