Bulgaria faces yet another sanction from Brussels

The European Commission has announced potential sanctions for Bulgaria in light of the Government's failure to force factories and manufacturers to establish quotas for carbon emissions, Dnevnik daily has reported, quoting a report from Bloomberg.

"Bulgaria is still failing to organise a national plan for the second phase of the European scheme for the carbon emissions' trade for the period 2008-2012," the report says. The second phase document in question deals with the appropriate allocation of quotas for every European Union member, Bulgaria notwithstanding.

The report, indicating that the EC is on course to sanction the country, was released on Tuesday, May 5. It states that there is a lack of a "coherent plan" and "complete inactivity" on the part of the Bulgarian Government. Consequently, Brussels is launching punitive procedures.

The assignment of carbon trading quotas in every member state was supposed to be formulated, completed and submitted for approval by April 30. Once the schemes are endorsed, they will then be adopted. Then and only then can firms and factories begin 'trading'.

Finally, Bloomberg has quoted an anonymous source from the Bulgarian government who allegedly said that Bulgarian companies would not be penalised if they don't issue quotas in line with their European counterparts.

bulgarias best chance is to leave the eu, and go back to school, when it has learnt all about the eu plan and everyone in bg is on board and understands the value of eu, then to choose its way..

As long as Bulgaria receive billions in contributions from the us Swedish taxpayers, you should keep quiet. Bulgaria run by a bunch of corrupt politicians who sit close to the Mafia. No wonder that Brussels interfering in and stop the payments.
