World-renown violinist Vesko Panteleev Eschkenazy will perform with the Dutch Royal Concertgebouw chamberorchestra, conducted by Martin Panteleev, on April 28 in Sofia.
"We wanted to do this for many years," Bulgarian-born Eschkenazy told Bulgarian National Radio in an interview. The performance will be the first visit by Concertgebouw chamberorchestra in Bulgaria.
Eschkenazy was born in Sofia, Bulgaria in 1970, and is currently the first violinist with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam.
The concert is to take place in Zala Bulgaria (Bulgaria Hall) and celebrates 100 years of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and The Netherlands.
The performance takes place in the framework of the European music festival 2009.
The programme for the concert includes J. Haydn: Symphony № 44 "Trauersinfonie", F. Schubert: Rondo for Violin and String Orchestra, E. Elgar: Serenade for Strings in E minor, Op. 20 and W.A. Mozart: Concerto for Violin and Orchestra № 5 in A major, KV 219.
