The first 50 applications for funding of in vitro procedures have been processed by the board of the new Fund Assisted Reproduction,  a media statement from Bulgaria's Health Ministry said on April 1 2009. The statement did not indicate how many of the applications had been accepted.

The first board meeting of the fund also established procedures of applications, Bulgarian news agency BTA said. The list of required documents would be added to the rules regulating the operation of the fund and would be made available on the website of the Health Ministry.

Among the document required were a consent to the conditions of the fund, a declaration with personal data of both the woman and her partner, nationality, marital status, and others, BTA said.

Before filing an application, the woman should have selected a medical centre that would perform the procedure. The centre would have to be accredited by the Health Ministry and authorised to perform this type of operations.

Documents for the application for funding could be submitted in person or by post to Fund Assisted Reproduction, 15 Acad. Ivan Geshov Boulevard, floor 11, room 36, Sofia 1431, as well as at the Health Ministry at 5 Sveta Nedelya Street in Sofia.

The board would meet at least once a week and more often if necessary, BTA said. Applications would be processed within a month.

More information was available via telephone numbers 02/ 895 3146, 02/ 895 3148.
