Globul extends contract with Bulgarian Football Union

Mobile operator Globul has extended its sponsorship contract with the Bulgarian Football Union (BFU), the football association said in a statement posted on its website.

The new deal was signed on March 26 and will keep Globul as the main sponsor of Bulgaria's national side until the summer of 2010, the statement said.

No financial details were disclosed, but Globul will continue to advertise its brand, products and services through the national team and television coverage related to it. A special clause states that a bonus would be paid to the national side should they manage to qualify for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Globul, Bulgaria's second-largest mobile operator, has been one of the biggest sponsors of the BFU since 2003 and "it is one of the main priorities of the company's sponsorship policy".

"The financial assistance extended to the Bulgarian national football team is amongst the most important activities of Globul, that and the support of Bulgarian sports and athletes," the statement read.
