Road section reconstruction financed by EU funds begins today

March 25 marks the beginning of the reconstruction of the Divotino – Lyulin – Golemo Buchino (located in the municipality of Pernik) road section. The first sod will be turned by Construction Minister Assen Gagauzov at midday, Dnevnik daily reports.

The company entrusted with overall construction procedures is the Kyustendil based Granit 97, which won the contract worth 4.27 million leva. The project must be executed by December 16 2009. The supervising company will be El Consult, from Pernik.

The reconstruction of the road is done under the Operative Programme for Regional Development, financed by European funds. The project envisages the reconstruction of a 3.4km road, the construction of new water drainage network, vertical and horizontal markings.

The expected effect is "a sharp reduction in traffic-related accidents in the region, and to improve the infrastructure access to some of Pernik's most distant boroughs," Gagauzov said.
