The British Council, which has been active in supporting the Sofia International Film Festival since the latter’s origins in 1993, hosted its gala evening on March 10. The screening of Oscar-winning Slumdog Millionaire was preceded by a cocktail in Matti’D, which drew members of the British community, people from the world of cinema, and representatives of the British Council and British embassy.

British Council Bulgaria announces library closure

As part of a changing role of the organisation, the British Council Bulgaria has announced it will close its Sofia-based library in November 2009.
