Preparations begin for Varna's luxury yacht HYPO Bulgaria Boat Show in Varna

"Most investors are looking for financing for the construction of yachting marinas," said the head of the Yacht Federation in Bulgaria, Stanislav Kasurov. "Major projects for the development of such specialist marinas are currently occurring in Nessebur, Sozopol, Ahtopol, Byala, Tsarevo, Bourgas and other places. The market for luxury yachts is dynamic and I expect its further progression here in Bulgaria during the summer season," said Kasturov.

Purchasing a yacht is an expensive asset, but a healthy one as a long-term investment," according to Kasturov.

Problems surrounding the construction of marinas will be discussed during the conference scheduled to take place in May in Varna, Bulgaria's largest seaside city. Varna will host the HYPO Bulgaria Boat Show 2009, the exhibition being the only such event organised on water, and traditionally the largest such gathering between producers and end clients in the branch.

HYPO Bulgaria Boat Show will be staged between May 21-26 in the Sea Garden in Varna, in the presence of more than 50 yachts, accompanied by premiers and other government leaders from Bulgaria and the region.

Boats will be docked on a total area of 4000 sq m. Yachting BG will present Azimut, which is the main importer in Bulgaria. Baia, an Italian company, will unveil its latest high speed luxury yachts for the second year running. Some of the other participants are Sail Marin, Manira Systems, Cadence, LZ Yachting and others.

At the HYPO Bulgaria boat Show 2009, helicopters, sports cars, motor bikes, scooters, diving gear and specialised sports kit will also be featured at specially installed temporary marquees.

So with all the fun reasons why one would like to own a boat laid out... Here are some of the reasons to remain boat free...

1. The 2 happiest days in a boat owner's like are the day he/she buys the boat and the day the boat is sold.
2. I bought a new boat that came with a 6 year warranty, but if you are buying a used boat to save money, then you are inheriting someone else's problems
3. My new boat, with the 6 year warranty, made it [...]

Read the full comment very easy to buy -- 15 years 7.15% interest. What credit crunch?
4. Maintenance is expensive... While any problems will be fixed under warranty, I am still responsible for maintenance.
5. Fuel prices are only going up... Have you ever tried to buy gas on the water? (Take you local land prices and multiple by 40-100%.)
6. You need to register your boat.
7. You need to store your boat.

I decline to state what my monthly costs are, but suffice it is to say that I am not a frugal warrior when it comes to the boat. But for me it is entirely worth it...

Lazy Man and Energy Gal seemed to agree if only because the only thing better than owning a boat, is a friend that owns a boat. LOL

Its a financial crises and Bulgarian importer of luxury gods think that it s still possible to sell yachts and other expensive things.. Time to wake up please. A Yacht its the most expensive thing a man can purchase, finance it, after that insure it and then pay the fuel !!! Better to rent one when ever you like to.
Take care from Mr. Mirov

And the the average Jo would wonder how to pay his bills and put food on the table to feed his kids... I just wish to see the whole crooked citadel collapsing one beautiful day...

"expensive asset, but a healthy one as a long-term investment" The only truth is the first word... "expensive", I doubt it is an asset and definitely not investment with high return. LOL

Yachting fraternity

Yachting is turning from a rediscovered hobby for the privileged few in Bulgaria to a driver of tourism. That is what a number of local businessmen are forecasting. Years of run-of-the-mill tourism have made Bulgaria's Black Sea tourism almost synonymous with low-cost all-inclusive hotel arrangements and cheap-alcohol tourism. There has been repeated criticism that this type of tourism tends to
