German wine show ProWein includes Bulgarian participation

ProWein, an annual trade fair for wine and spirits held in Düsseldorf, Germany, is drawing the participation of 11 Bulgarian wineries and distribution companies that deal in Bulgaria wine to the event this year, being held from March 29 to 31 2009.

With direct representation are the Bulgarian cellars Belvédère (parent company of Katarzyna Estate), Damianitza, Rumelia Wine Cellar, Logodaj Winery, Telish, Vinex Slavyantsi, Vinzavod Assenovgrad, Edoardo Miroglio and Santa Sarah. The distribution companies Wein- und Sektkellerei Ostrau, from Ostrau, Germany, and Tophi Warenhandelsgesellschaft AG +Co. KG, of Hamburg, will also present the Bulgarian wines that they import.

Information from Villa Hissar sent on March 13 said that two of its wines – Villa Hissar Chardonnay 2008 and Villa Hissar +359 Бяла Метафора / White Metaphor – had been recognised in the category In the World of White Burgundy by the ProWein 2009 tasting jury, receiving two out of three stars possible. The winery said that awards would be conferred at the trade fair itself.

First held in 1993, ProWein has established itself as a leading venue for making the connections that lead to success on the international market. According to its website, in 2008, it drew 3160 exhibitors from 45 countries, 33 386 visitors from 50 countries and 787 journalists from around the world.
