English Premier League: When wads of cash clash, or Chelsea v Man City

Chelsea have qualified to the Champions league quarterfinals and they must now concentrate on maintaining their marginal lead over Liverpool in their quest to chase down Manchester United as the Premiership race reaches its final stage. If the London rich boys can beat the newly-rich City boys in the battle of the wads, that is.

This is the clash between the Russian and the Arab cash, and in spite of the all the pre-season hype, Russian money have proven to be more effective, at least for now. At least while it lasts, as Abramovich reportedly is looking forward to shed his expensive Chelsea toy and leave them to fend for themselves.

During the first fixture in September, Chelsea beat Man City 3-1, and Dutch manager Guus Hiddink will no doubt want to maintain his 100 per cent record by beating City at Stamford Bridge.

It will be tough for Chelsea as City are also on a winning streak. Mark Hughes has saluted his Uefa Cup heroes, who dispatched Danish side Aalborg 2-0 and gave themselves a good chance of claiming their third Danish scalp in this year's European campaign.

Chelsea will be banking on their big guns as all of them are reportedly fit for the clash. Frank Lampard is the only Chelsea player who has started in all matches for the Blues in the Premier League so far, whereas Nicolas Anelka, the top scorer in the Premier League with 21 goals in all competitions, is rearing to go and punish City.

Another nemesis for City is Didier Drogba, who has scored five goals in six Premier League appearances against Manchester City, which is something they will have to consider carefully before the showdown on Sunday.

The match is in London. Shouldn't you do a bit of research before putting pen to paper?
