Starting on March 7 2009, construction of the Sofia metro from Patriarh Evtimii boulevard to Cherni Vruh boulevard begins. For the next four years this will detour tram 9 from its traditional route.

Traffic on the far right lane of Cherni Vruh boulevard is now prohibited. Open are two lanes to the city's centre and one lane to James Boucher boulevard.
