Row over entry of Serbian officials to Kosovo

A dispute has erupted over the rights or otherwise of Serbian officials to enter Kosovo after Pristina said that it had barred the entry of Serbian minister for Kosovo Goran Bogdanovic.
Kosovo daily Express said on February 23 2009 that Serbia's state secretary at the Kosovo ministry, Oliver Ivanovic, said that Serbian officials would not ask permission to enter Kosovo because, in terms of United Nations Security Council resolution 1244, it remained part of Serbia.
On February 17 2009, Kosovo marked a year since its universal declaration of independence from Serbia.
According to Express, Ivanovic said: "To the extent there are international representatives here, we do not need permission to enter. They cannot stop us from entering and neither would anyone respect a possible ban of theirs".
Ivanovic said that he was concerned that this was "the beginning of a conflict that Kosovo Albanians are pushing deliberately."
He said that Serbian officials who travelled to Kosovo spoke to UNMIK officials, not to get permission, but request an escort because they did not feel safe while visiting Serb enclaves and the Serb community in Kosovo in general.
Express said that officials of the United Nations mission in Kosovo said that they could not offer any further escorts to any delegation that visits the country, including to Serbia, because the mission does not have any police available.
Any request for an escort made to UNMIK was passed on to Kosovo's interior ministry and the European Union rule of law mission EULEX.
However, Bogdanovic earlier dismissed Pristina's claim that it had "prohibited" him from entering Kosovo, Serbia's B92 said on February 21.
Bogdanovic said that Serbia's ministry for Kosovo had no contacts with the government in Pristina, "and even less so any need to ask them for permission" to go to Kosovo.
"For all visits and stay in Kosovo and Metohija the Serbian government representatives speak to UNMIK or EULEX, as the only legitimate international missions in the province, which is currently a UN protectorate, according to UN Security Council Resolution 1244," Bogdanovic said.

Stupid people never stop amusing me... Its not called history its called "UN Security Council Resolution 1244". By international law it belongs to Serbia, no point in debating it furhter. Kosovo as we all know, doesnt contain a single Kosovo national... There are Serbs and there are Albanians. This means that it had to belong to someone, that someone being Serbia. There wouldnt have been a war had a certain Terrorist group by the name of the KLA not been formed.
As far war crimes go, yes many Serbs did commit crimes, that goes without saying [...]

The one where john hyunadis hungarias allied with skenderbegs Albanians to battle the ottomans? The one where the ottomans paid off the Serbians to cut off skenderbegs route to the battle, this delaying him and his troops and allowing the ottomans to attack them from the backend in which he stillllll won. But it did the job bc he got to Kosovo too late and the Hungarians were outnumbered and lost. One could argue the Serbs are the ones who helped implement the final strong hold of the ottoman empire in Europe for the next 500 years in turn changing history. Point is, don't play the history game, it's pointless and proves nothing and determines nothing

It's also the ancient battlegrounds where the Serbs defeated the Ottoman empire who also thought that they could take it away. Yes, the U.S. bombed Serbia.... their resiliance lasted for over 70 days of constant bombing. Unlike the Albanian terrorists who were busy working with Al Qaeda to drum up fake stories of 'ethnic cleasing' for support. This all just another Afganistan in the works. The U.S. helped the Afgans then had to fight them. Same will happen here. [...]

look every one knows who has sovereignty over Kosovo.. it's time for Serbia to accept it and move on to greater EU aspirations. Kosovo is a multi-ethnic state where minorities have more legal rights then the majority (just like most democracies). The Serbs should settle for that and stop spreading hate to Mitrovica, stop punishing Albanians in Presheva and other Albanian enclaves, and hand over all of its war criminals wanted by the international court.
Yeah, sure Serbia. Go on, try to enter please. Plenty of American made handcuffs waiting for you.

Ja sam Srbin, i boriti cu se za Kosovo ali ostavite se vasih resolucija jer 1244 je prevara stoljeca jer su oni morali da vas slazu da bi ih pustili,a sad kad su usli naoruzali su Siptare stvorili baze sacekali 10 godina da nasi ratni veterani ostare,jer smo bili sila po ogromnom iskustvu iz zadnjih ratova .Vama su mazali oci ovih deset godina nekim glupim
vojnim saradnjama, a sad kad je trebalo da se ocuva suverenitet po rezoluciji 1244 ,oni se prave "Englezi".
