Dream Theater booked for Kaliakra Rock Fest

New York-based progressive metal pioneers Dream Theater have been booked to headline the first night of this year's edition of Kaliakra Rock Fest on July 3 in Kavarna, on the Black Sea coast, organisers Joker Media and Kavarna municipality said on February 16.

It was a long wait, but the band will finally deliver on the promise Mike Portnoy made at the end of a three-hour gig in Sofia on July 3 2002.

There have been no changes to the Dream Theater line-up since then, with Portnoy on drums, John Petrucci on guitars, James LaBrie as lead vocal, John Myung on bass and Jordan Rudess on keyboards.

The band is known for its live performances, as evidenced by the large number of official and unsanctioned bootlegs in existence, as well as the care that band members put into making every gig stand out as unique.

To that end, Dream Theater often teams up with other bands, but the organisers of Kaliakra Rock Fest are yet to confirm the other acts at this year's edition of the festival.

Headliners from previous years include Manowar, Motorhead,Twisted Sister, Helloween, Аlice Cooper and Slayer.

Tickets, both for individual gigs and passes for the three-day festival, will go on sale in March and will e available online at eventim.bg, ticketstream.bg and at the ticket desk of the National Palace of Culture (NDK) in Sofia.
