The roads in Bulgaria are dry and cleared of snow, however in the mountainous regions at 1800m above sea level and higher there are sections that are partially coated with ice. The Shipka pass and other mountain passes in the mountains are still partially covered with snow, the National Road Infrastructure Agency said, as quoted by Dnevnik daily.
In some areas visibility is poor. Around Slivnitsa, Radnevo and Gulubovo the visibility is around 50m, whereas in and around the towns Pernik, Breznik, and Chirpan the visibility is around 100m. On the Trakia motorway, there is also reduced visibility close to Stara Zagora. Also with reduced visibility are the regions of Botevgrad, Levski and Svishtov.
The passes Etropole - Zlatitsa, Tvarditsa - Elena, Troyan - Kurnare and the Vurbishkiyat Pass are all closed until further notice.
All border crossing points operate normally.
Sofia airport said it was operating normally despite the fog over the city, with no re-directed flights, although some arrivals were late.
