Vihren FC threatens CSKA Sofia with transfer freeze

CSKA Sofia's unpaid debt to Vihren FC for Nigerian wing Shikoze Udodji could have very serious consequences for CSKA after the end of the Christmas holidays when the season resumes in January.

Vihren FC's sports and technical director, Atanas Uzunov, threatened that, should the Bulgarian champions fail to meet their obligations to the Sandanski team, all transfers would be halted during the winter break and no players sent to Sofia.

"I don't want to be threatening anyone, but such are the documents and the arrangements. We expect our money for the Nigerian and if this is not transferred on time, there will be sanctions for CSKA Sofia. We were considerate and understanding over the last few seasons and we always waited for them to sort themselves out, but our patience is wearing very, very thin," Atanas Uzunov said as quoted by Dnevnik daily.

CSKA Sofia owe 128 000 euro to Vihren FC for Udodji. This unpaid amount was one reason why the Reds' licence to participate in this year's European tournaments was revoked. Four months later, apparently nothing has been resolved. "They (CSKA) offered an absurd scheme for payment, whereby they wanted to sell the Nigerian back to Vihren FC for the identical sum, and then at a future transfer of the Nigerian, to take a larger part of the transfer money," said Uzunov.
