On October 24 and 25, Green School Village association, Bikearea association and Ivailovgrad municipality organise a Mobility Celebration on the occasion of the official opening of the new Green Way - "a bicycle route in the region of Ivailovgrad's enchanting Easter Rhodopi Mountains", which was created as part of the project Ahrida - return of the harmony between man and nature.

The celebration will start at 6pm on October 24 at the main square in Ivailovgrad town centre, which lies about 260km south-east of Sofia. The Green Way will be presented to the guests, as well as other films, music and dances.

On October 26 at 11am, from the main square will start a bicycle excursion with Bikearea association, which will go to the village of Kostilkovo and the Centre for Informal Education of Green School Village association. There a tent camp will be set.

In the region of Ivailovgrad, accommodation is also available at several locations.

The Green Way is for bicycle, horse and walking tourism and aims at protecting and promoting the nature and cultural heritage in the region of Ivailovgrad municipality, and develops its economical potential through improvement of the conditions for unconventional tourism. The project was inspired by the combination between the wild nature and the living traditions in the Eastern Rhodopi, where Green School Village sees a considerable potential for development of alternative tourism, which spares the nature, the association said.

The route of the Green Way is easily accessible and goes through asphalt routes with rare traffic. It creates a real connection between significant cultural heritage sites, populated areas with potential for tourism, and protected nurture areas. The route start is in Ivailovgrad, while the local tourism-information centre is able to provide five bicycles for rent. The project also envisions issuing of a tourist guide for the Green Way with information on the route and the sights that could be seen while riding or walking it, as well as the lodgings along it.
