Bass geniuses Marcus Miller, Stanley Clarke and Victor Wooten keep their audience gripped

Three of the greatest world masters of bass guitar, Marcus Miller, Stanley Clarke and Victor Wooten staged an unforgettable concert on October 20 in Sofia's National Palace of Culture.

Although the concert started two hours late, because the musicians had been delayed at the border with Romania, none of the fans or visitors to the concert left before it began.

SMV, the project that the three musicians presented to the Bulgarian audience, was created less than a year ago and has become one of the most exciting creations in contemporary jazz history. Just less than a month ago, the band recorded its debut album Thunder, which complies 13 pieces in a funky-jazz style.

The three bass legends played for about two hours, together with drummer Derico Watson and the keyboard player Federico Pena. Several completely new pieces also were offered up for Bulgarian fans of the bass, who filled to capacity the biggest concert hall in the country.

The concert in Sofia was part of the festival Music Jam 2008. Tickets for the show were sold at prices between 30 and 60 leva.
