Sofia launches first night bus route

Tue, Oct 14 2008 12:41 CET 745 Views

Sofia's first night bus - the number 94 - took its first journey on October 14 2008 from the city centre to the students district Studentski Grad.

The initiative for night-time public transport was started in June 2008 by a civil group, which set up the website sofia-transport.wikidot.com and raised a petition. The success of the campaign resulted in the proposal that was approved by Sofia municipal council.

The bus will initially drive hourly from midnight to 6am. It will cover the route from Studentski Grad to Sofia centre for a trial period of three months so the municipality can gauge interest.
