Brand New Heavies, DJ Tiesto and Snoop Dogg: three in two in Sofia

Three musical events will shake the last days of summer in Sofia, happily coinciding with the celebration of Sofia's name day.

On Saint Sofia day, September 17, the world acid jazz legends Brand New Heavies will come to Sofia for the first time to commemorate the seventh anniversary of Jazz FM Radio. The concert will be held at 8pm in NDK (National Palace of Culture).

Brand New Heavies became a cult band on the London club scene in the 1980s, establishing acid jazz in the place of funk. The name of the group was borrowed from a liner note on a James Brown single, declaring the artist "Minister of New Super Heavy Funk". The band has numerous times taken the number 1 position of UK and US charts for singles, dance, club, R'n'B and hip-hop music, with their albums reaching platinum status. If the name sounds familiar, but you cannot recall their works, some of their hits are Sometimes, You've Got a Friend, Dream on Dreamer, Apparently Nothing, Shelter and Never Stop.

Tickets for the concert are available via eventim.bg at 30 to 60 leva.

Elsewhere in the city, in Zala Festivalna, one of the world's best mixers in the form of DJ Tiesto will give a unique show in Bulgaria, part of his worldwide Elements of Life Tour 2008. The show will surely be amazing, with Tiesto being famous for establishing new standards in the history of club music. It is not by chance that DJ magazine ranked him as first in the world's best DJs listing for three consecutive years.

The organisers have promised huge amounts of sound and lighting equipment, as well as multimedia and attractive dancers. There will be a VIP zone for 2000 people and the whole hall will be decorated in the style of Ibiza clubs. Tickets are for sale at 35 to 50 leva at NDK, at dance centre Sin City's ticket desks and via ticketpro.bg.

Things will go eccentric a day later, when, on September 18 in the Winter Palace of Sport in Studentski Grad, the bad boy Snoop Dogg will prove that it is not only his criminal record, but also his music that makes him famous and it was not by chance that more than 16 million copies of his albums have sold in the US alone.

The show starts at 8pm, with tickets going for 40 leva, available from ticketstream.bg.
