Bulgaria's young tennis star Grigor Dimitrov continued his good performance at the 2008 US Open Junior tournament and advanced to the third round on September 3 2008.

Dimitrov, who won the Wimbledon boys' singles tournament earlier this year, had problems only in the first set of his second round match against American Ty Tombetta.

Seeded third, Dimitrov won in two sets (7-5, 6-1) and advanced to the next stage of the tournament, where he will confront Marcelo Arevalo from El Salvador who won against Australian Matt Reid in a three set match (1-6, 7-5, 6-4).

Dimitrov's opening match was against Frenchman Julien Obry, which he won in two sets (6-2, 6-2).

Dimitrov is the only Bulgarian left in tournament after Bistra Otashliyska lost her first round match in the girls' doubles. Otashliyska and her partner Monika Tumova from the Czech Republic lost in straight sets (6-7, 1-6) to Americans Kristie Ahn and Nicole Gibbs.
