Teodosii Spasov, Wikeda, Kozza Mostra, Popara and Balkansky are only a few of the famous Bulgarian music artists who will perform, together with DJs of Hard Music Sound Unit (HMSU) and Artmospheric, at the Beglika free festival near Beglika dam in the Rhodope mountains from August 7 to 10. During the festival, various sports and art events and competitions will take place on the lake's shores or in the nearby mountains. The festival is organised under the motto of nature preservation and the Wood Grouse in particular, whose population is threatened by excessive hunting.
The location of the Beglika festival is near the town of Batak, 110 km south-east of Sofia near Pazardjik. Access to the festival is free of charge, but participants are encouraged to support the festival through the sale of t-shirts with the festival's logo for 12 leva or a t-shirt with an environmental certificate of 25 leva.
The proceeds will be used towards the preservation of the Wood Grouse population.
Beglika festival promotes a healthy mind and body attitude and includes arts and sports activities.
The festival is organised by eight non-governmental organisations, including the Bulgarian Biodiversity Foundation, Bikearea association, Green School Village association and others.
A four-discipline marathon links the four elements of earth, fire, water and wind to cycling, paintball, kayaking and rope net, respectively.
Bikes, boats and paintball equipment will be available for rent during the festival.
The music stage features Artmospheric & Jisatsuken crew with special guest DJ Shahar (Aleph Zero) on August 7. Performances on August 8 include acidtrip (HMSU), Konspirator (HMSU), EXo (hmsu, mirizma), Targy (HMSU), Mocks (HMSU), Ogonek (HMSU), Digital Soul & Kigami (KiDS) and Birben (Overload), as well as a fire show. Local bands Wikeda, Popara, Merudia, Kozza Mostra, Señor Buffo & The Synchronizers will perform on August 9, while the last day of the festival will see concerts by Teodosii Spasov, Balkansky, Matyu Dobrev quintet, Kolyu, Quantone and Shukar Entertainment.
In addition to sports and music, visitors can participate in workshops to learn how to play bagpipes, take part in land art activities, play traditional Bulgarian children's games.
A navigation competition is planned for August 8, and on August 9 workshops in basic knowledge about green and environmentally friendly construction technologies, as well as workshops on how to compost rubbish. Workshops on different herbs and mushrooms varieties will take place on the last day of the festival.
