ROUSSE ON NEW MEUSE
Rousse mayor Bozhidar Yotov has had an idea to turn Roussenski Lom River into a tourist attraction by making sailing possible. The river is the last major right tributary of the Danube River and flows into the latter at Rousse. Yotov had the idea after coming back from a visit to Germany on June 9, local Bryag daily said. Rousse could take Rotterdam experience with New Meuse River and put it into practise, Yotov said.

FLOURISHING
The number of Bulgarian companies registered in Romania was more than 890, Radu Moldovan, economic adviser at Romanian embassy in Sofia, told a forum held in Rousse on June 9. Bulgaria's export to Romania was mainly in the field of construction materials and food products. Romania's export was furniture, petrol products and equipment. Moldovan expected bilateral trade between the two countries to reach 1.6 billion euro by the end of the year

CHURCH CONCERT
The Roman Catholic St Paul of the Cross Cathedral in Rousse will mark 100 years since the day the church organ was installed, with a concert held at the church on June 17. The concert will commence at 6pm. The instrument was bought from Germany in 1908 when it was considered state of the art. It has not been in use for the period 1992 to 2007. It was restored in 2004 and is currently the second-largest music organ in Bulgaria.

JUSTICE SERVED
The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) has dismissed Rossen Todorov from his post of chairman of the Regional Court in the town of Byala, south from Rousse. The SJC found Todorov guilty of damaging the image of the court system and breach of ethical standards. Todorov had treated his subordinates with rudeness, committed financial offences and had performed acts of exhibitionism, the SJC found. Two years ago he had walked around his apartment building wearing only a t-shirt.

NEW FERRY
The ferry Nikopol-Turnu Magurele is to be launched in July, according to Deputy Transport Minister Dimcho Mihalevski. The infrastructure and administrative buildings on both sides have been completed. About 6.2 million euro has been invested in the project. The ferry will be able to transport 12 heavy-motor vehicles across the river in less than eight minutes.
