A truck loaded with explosive substance was blasted close to a mine located near the town of Pernik on March 6.
The explosion is the second in the last 24 hours to occur in a mine region, Novinar newspaper. A first explosion occurred in Oranovo mine in southwestern Bulgaria seriously harming a dozen miners.
The Pernik explosion resulted in no fatalities. Five workers were near the truck at the time of the accident, two were hospitalised after the explosion.
Novinar reported that the truck driver noticed flames and ran away shortly before the explosion occurred.
Residents of two Pernik districts felt the explosion. Previously an explosion in a Pernik mine killed nine workers.
Exports to Greece have been halted and Bobov Dol heating utility company has also slashed demand, thus spelling the end for the last Pernik coal pit.
Maximum temperatures across the country will remain mostly below zero.
The first tremor was at about 12.34am, followed by another three minutes later. Their epicentres were located between the towns of Radnevo and Topolovgrad.
There was no risk of blackouts caused by insufficient power supply, Economy Minister Traicho Traikov told Bulgarian National Radio.
