Biathlon competitors Pavlina Filipova, Radka Popova and Ekaterina Dafovska received the victory cup Nike given to the Bulgarian team of the month.

The January team was determined through the traditional survey of Bulgarian sport journalists, BGNES Sport agency reported.

The biathlon team received 18 votes from the 26 votes submitted. The Bulgarians took the 4x6 relay fifth place during the International Cup start in Ruhpolding Germany.

Filipova said the Bulgarian biathlon competitors would hopefully continue showing the same results in the upcoming competitions in Norway and Russia.

Tomorrow the Bulgarian team will travel to Norway. The competitors will also participate in the national championship in Bansko between March 30 and April 3. The national competition will mark the end of the 2006 biathlon season.

After the end of this season's competitions the Bulgarian team will analyse its condition and the need for new competitors. Popova and Dafovska will take a several months break after which they will decide whether to continue competing for the national team.
