BULGARIAN BIATHLON COMPETITOR RANKS 21ST

German biathlon competitor Sven Fischer won the gold medal in the 10 km competition of the Winter Olympic in Turin. His winning time is 26.11 minutes.

Halvard Hanevold from Norway got the silver medal, followed by another Norwegian, Frode Anderesen with bronze, the Bulgarian National Radio reported.

The only Bulgarian competitor, Vitali Rudenchuk ranked 21st among 90 participants. He finished the competition 1.47 minutes after Fischer.

Rudenchuk's standing is the best achievement for a Bulgarian male competitor in biathlon since 18 years.

A number of famous competitors reached the finish line after the Bulgarian, including the new 20 km Olympic champion Michael Greis from Germany.

The next biathlon competition will take place on Thursday. Bulgarians Ekaterina Dafovska, Pavlina Filipova, Irina Nikoulchina and Radka Popova will compete in the 7.5 km sprint.
